Nanotechbuzz: Our Contributors
My name is Joseph Kim and I enjoy writing about various topics related to technology and healthcare. I received a bachelor of science (B.S.) in mechanical engineering (that's Course 2 for those of you familiar with MIT nomenclature) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, so I’m a true “techy” when it comes to nanotechnology, mobile devices, computers, information science/information technology, and robotics. Nanotechnology is revolutionizing the world and I’m excited to see so many recent advances. By profession, I am a physician, so writing about healthcare-related topics comes naturally. I believe that nanotechnology will transform medical care and global public health. While at MIT, I was involved in cancer-related biomedical research through the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology division. After graduating from MIT, I received my doctor of medicine (M.D.) from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. I also received a master of public health (M.P.H) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences. I am married to a lovely physician and have one daughter who seems to loves science. In my spare time, I like to stay active in technology and healthcare forums.

I am the director of the Green Technology Forum, a research and advising firm on nanotechnology and biotechnology. I am also an Associate Professor in the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University. My research on nanotechnology and other emerging design technologies has been published by Princeton Architectural Press, the International Journal of Architectural Computing, the American Institute of Architects, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. My book, “Integrated Practice: Mastering Design-Build, Fast-Track, and Building Information Modeling”, will be published by AIA/Wiley in early 2007. I also author two popular nanotechnology blogs, nanotechbuzz and GreenTechBlog. I received my PhD in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley in 1998, and owned a design-build firm in Washington DC for twelve years prior to that. In 2005 I held a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh working on my current study, “The Design of Nature”.
I am a frequent speaker and author on nanotechnology and biotechnology, and I can be reached at nanotech@creative-weblogging.com.
