Print your own robot
Filed in archive on June 30, 2006
Gutenberg started a technological revolution with the printing press, and it appears printing will continue to revolutionize our world, thanks to nanotechnology.
As I described in yesterday's post, printing may be the source of new synthetic human organs. Now an article at Ohmy News discovered by Resposible Nanotechnology suggests you may one day be printing robots from your desktop as well.
Author Gregory Daigle describes the various components of a printable robot and how we might go about forming them. He also highlights some of the breakthroughs that have already occurred, including printable batteries and displays.
Put all of these new capabilities together and we won't even have to bother with cloning; just fire up the printer and make some new friends! (photo Jet Flyer)
