Nanoshell inventor to speak in Chicago

Dr. Naomi Halas, best known as the inventor of nanoshells, will speak Friday, October 6, at 2:00 pm at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
The Rice University chemistry professor was recently featured in national geographic for her groundbreaking work in nanotechnology. Most recently, she was lead researcher in the development of a nano-sized pH meter with wide applicability to biologists, including non-invasive 'optical biopsies' to determine the malignancy of tumors through pH changes inside living tissue and cells.
Her talk, part of the IIT Department of Biology, Chemistry & Physical Sciences Kilpatrick Series, will take place at the McCormick Tribune Campus Center Auditorium on the IIT campus in Chicago. I'll be there to fill you in on Dr. Halas' talk if you can't make it in person. (photo Rice University)
My respect goes to Dr. Naomi Halas, for inventing what the Science Daily described as “a revolutionary new form of cancer therapy in development at Rice University and its licensee, Nanospectra Biosciences Inc.,proven effective at eradicating tumors in laboratory animals during the first phase of animal testing.” Read the entire article on RSS feed: http://www.mychicagonewsblog.com/feed/
