Nanocomposite Labels Help Cancer Therapy

Tiny nanocomposite particles, made up of a mix of organic and metallic components, are being used to label cancer cells for destruction by a precision laser. Laser therapy is a new cancer treatment that does not require surgery. It is used for skin cancer, where the malignant cells are close to the surface. Like many cancer treatments, there is the possibility of doing damage to healthy cells, but this nanocomposite labeling technique will make that a thing of the past, at least as far as laser therapy is concerned.
