California planning $95 million for nanotech and related research
Filed in archive Government on January 4, 2007
Governor Schwarzenegger is proposing nearly $95 million in the California state budget to create the Governor's Research and Innovation Initiative. This initiative provides funding for major projects that will grow California's economic Strength in key innovation sectors, including cleantech, biotech and nanotech.
Don't count on a lot of the nanotech research to be centered in Berkeley though, where the city council has voted to regulate nanomaterials.

Irony of ironies. Interesting to now see whether there will be any fallout if Berkeley based research areas miss out after the city council decision.
