Consolidated Ecoprogress Technology Inc. has signed an agreement to license certain nanotechnology products for application in the Flushaway brand feminine hygiene products from QuarTek Corporation, according to a company press release:

"Consolidated Ecoprogress makes Flushaway-the world's first and only line of flushable, biodegradable feminine hygiene products. Flushaway products are currently available in 1,700 Wal Mart stores throughout the United States and are going into South African Clix and Pick 'n Pay stores. They are also being sold through the United States Marine Corps stores worldwide and are soon to be available in more than 3,000 convenience stores."

Ecoprogress seeks to become a lead player in environmentally friendly, absorbent and plastic replacement products. Flushaway is its first branded product.

A flushable alternative to pads and tampons is a very big deal environmentally, because there are over 85 million women of menstruating age in the US, and according to the National Women's Health Network, they contribute approximately twelve billion pads and 7 million tampons to landfills each year.
